Mubarak or Arnold?

Following Sri Lanka’s test defeat there’s a lot of opinion expressed that Russell Arnold, instead of Jehan Mubarak would’ve been a better choice to replace injured Chamara Kapugedara. Mubarak, who hasn’t had a good enough first class record in the recent past was rushed in as the replacement. Why not Arnold? Arnold has been a proven performer in both forms of the game over the years, but has failed to live up to the ‘Mr. Reliable’ tag he earned, say 5 years ago. I remember the time when Arni was able to win matches single handedly from virtually hopeless situations. But since late, he’s lacked the all important consistency and has thrown his wicket at critical times. So then, was Mubarak the correct choice? Looking at his batting in the first innings and superb fielding, I feel his selection was justified, but at the cost of Arni? It’s a tough one…
Nevertheless, whether it was Arnold or Murabak, the Sri Lankan middle order batsman must take blame for the defeat.

Well its always a gamble when selecting who's the next best to replace one...arni has always been an interesting and a match winning cricketer but mubarak on the other hand is new 2 da arena but looking at sum of the shrokes that he plays i always feel that he can surprise u any moment with a biggyy... so lets not be bias towards one, he's got talent which i think is natural... lets give him another chance

Actually mubarak didn’t get enough mathces to prove him self. Its perferable to give chance for a stroke maker like mubarak. There was a time where arnold was reliable, it was 5 years back. But he is not consistant with his performance and also he don’t have the ability to play long match winning innings. But mubarak, on the other hand he had proved that he had the ability to play match winning innings durin the recent S.L A team matches. Its better for selectors to give an opportunity to youngstars, when he is actually in his peak. I appreciate the selection committee’s selection, caz the future of S.L cricket is in youngsters hand. Giving opportunity for murbark would add value to the team in the near future.
